What was the first tech in the world?

When we think of the term technology, what comes to mind? Does it mean computers or tablets? Or did you just listen to a podcast and got lost in some great futuristic concept? Well, that’s not entirely true. I want to talk about one specific device that actually was the first of its kind in an age where so many different devices with various forms and uses, such as smartphones and earbuds are available to us today. Let’s take a look at this device called “Dartboard” which basically is a portable computer which means that we use it to create images and to play music. It was not only invented by Steve Jobs himself but also designed and developed by his father Bill Gates back in 1976. So yes, there’s more than just the fact that this particular gadget was used as early as 1976 while Steve Jobs was still working on developing other products like Apple Inc., Microsoft Corp., etc.

The first DARTBOX was manufactured under the name HUGSTER from IBM, but later modified into DJI Drones by the tech giant itself, it became widely popular amongst people across the world from Asia to Africa. This is because; 1) DJI drones were very easy to handle and 2) they were extremely fast and could perform all kinds of tasks such as taking pictures and videos as well as being able to fly autonomously along with their GPS sensors. However, these days, due to safety concerns and privacy issues involving the drone industry, DJI recently stopped manufacturing this device after selling over 50 million units of helicopters. Due to the recent events, now we’re going to be discussing another similar product, the iPhone 4s, to see how much they changed our lives and how far they have come.

In order to understand why, let’s first look at how the word smartphone came to be and how it has evolved throughout time and also analyze who invented the first mobile phone. According to Google Trends data, there were three separate versions of the term smartphone which were released during those times – PDA-1 (1956), PDA-2 (1957), and PDAs (1980). You can see from the above figures that the name started changing constantly which was mostly due to technological changes. Some notable changes include making the size smaller for pocket size, reducing costs, and improving user experience. But since then, the terms have become interchangeable meaning that most people nowadays say they own multiple types of smartphones in their life. Below is the picture of the main features of each and every smartphone which will be discussed in detail below, shall we? The evolution of mobile phones is pretty incredible, right? The answer is no, they haven’t really evolved anything.

What is meant by Mobile Phone? In simpler words, it refers to a special electronic device which is small and can connect to one hand and hold all kinds of information in it or even transfer information or photos between two different hands (or between two things). Before smartphones, the idea of having something such as a handheld telephone was unheard of. For example, my grandmothers used to carry around her old telephone sets from back then (in the 1960s/70s). They had buttons for calling and forwarding calls to another person with whom she lived. These were big enough that they would fit in the palm of your hand and held up with ease. A couple decades ago, however, there were no cellphones that could receive text messages and SMS (Short Message Service) was a thing in the 1970s or 1980s. Then slowly a breakthrough happened when companies such as Motorola came out with telephones which allowed users to send short texts and audio messages to their loved ones. With the development of 3G connection and Internet connections that were faster, less expensive, and more reliable, cellphones eventually became very common. Although in the past, mobile phones were bulky in size, nowadays they’re becoming compact and tiny and that’s why people can own them without bothering to sit on the floor for hours while watching Netflix. There are a lot of different models and brands of mobile phones but here they are divided into two categories – Smartphone and Tablet.

Smartphone vs Tablet Comparison Tablets are known to be thinner and lighter but do not have the same level of functionality as smart phones. And so, if you were wondering what’s better- Smartphone or Tablet? We’d answer that question with a simple YES! If you do not have a desktop yet, don’t worry, you’ll soon switch over. Smartphones are getting larger day after day, and that’s the best part. Today, almost everyone can own a smart phone which also includes iPads and iPod touch. They are also being sold on the market in sizes of 5” to 12” with the latest model being the Galaxy S series which allows users to control their phone on their wrist which makes it convenient to carry them around. Smart phones are being equipped with different interfaces such as touchscreen, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, NFC, AR, etc. All of these features allow the users to make phone calls, stream music, watch movies, and view updates at any time. On top of that, the app store has made it easier for users to find a variety of apps according to their preferences such as social media, games, email, reminders, calendars, news, maps, etc. While browsing through the internet, users can download different applications installed by various businesses including Spotify, YouTube, Skype, Snapchat, etc. Another cool feature of Android OS currently running on smartphones is “Do Not Disturb Mode”, which will restrict notifications to keep the attention away from work or other stuff they do on their smartphones and to avoid distraction while using them for important matters. One also gets access to weather, traffic reports, or flight information through their smartphones. To sum up, smartphones have advanced us on a whole new level and it’s truly fascinating to see where technology is headed in the future. So, there is no doubt that once again, technology has been quite useful to mankind today. As the saying goes- Better late than never. Hence, we can safely conclude that the invention of the smartphone has changed life drastically and made it easier as well as healthier to live it now.
